50th anniversary

50th anniversary

Dear guests, guest members and members of the Society,

only a few weeks separate us from the 26th Store Kro Club meeting in Dresden. The preparations are proceeding and we are trying to keep up with the tradition to make a memorable meeting both from a scientific and a social perspective. With 25 oral and 34 poster presentations the scientific program looks promising.

Accommodation and fees

Your down payment includes hotel accommodation for three nights (May 07 – 10), all meals, conference material, conference dinner and all social activities.
Expenses that you will have topay for by your own
are incidental charges, e.g. parking fees, telephone calls, internet, room service, individual bar purchases and extra nights. Therefore you will be asked to provide a valid credit card upon arrival.

Unfortunately internet is not a free service at our hotel. You can either use a wireless connection for 1h = 8 € (3 hours = 15 € or 24 hours = 15 €) everywhere or the hotel computer for 15min = 5 € (45min = 10 €) at the Business Center.

Please note that the hotel changed in the meantime to a complete NON SMOKER hotel!

Hosting

There will be a get-together at some special rooms on Thursday evening at 1800 o’clock before the official opening of the meeting. This will be a chance to get to know each other better.

Some members of the club will serve as hosts for you. Please consult your own congress material you will receive upon arrival to check on your personal host and room for this matter. Important: each of you should bring his/her own glass from the room.

The Advisory Board considers this to contribute to the special atmosphere of our club and highly encourages your participation.

Thank you!

It is my great pleasure and at the same time a big honour to announce the next meeting of the Society of Oral Physiology, formerly the Store Kro Group. Its 26th conference – simultaneously also the 50th anniversary of the Society – will take place

Thursday, May 7th 2009 (reception at 6 p.m.)
until Sunday, May 10th 2009 (closing of meeting after lunch).

Dear colleagues and friends,

the last Store Kro meeting in Germany was held in 1991 in Bonn. For this reason we have decided not to host the upcoming conference in the same surroundings. After a good deal of thinking we opted for Dresden. Following the abolishment of “the wall” that separated Germany until 1989, the city has been thoroughly redeveloped and now offers quite a number of remarkable sights. The valley of the river Elbe as well as the man-made landscape are classified world heritage. It is therefore worthwhile to come earlier to Dresden or to stay on a little longer. The social programme will of course cover some of the landmarks, but time is limited and there will be much more to see.

According to the tradition of the Club, the invitation to the StoreKro conference in Dresden particularly includes the partners of the members and guests! To stress this means a lot to me.

Dresden is well connected and has its own airport (app. 10 km / 10 min from the hotel). It is located 200 km south of Berlin and is easily reached from there by either car (2.5 hours drive) or train (2 hours ride). The hotel The Westin Bellevue Dresden is located on the banks of the river Elbe within walking distance to the historic old town. The hotel was completely refurbished in 2000 and has 340 rooms, so it is quite big. Despite its size, it will allow to hold the conference in the usual convivial and special atmosphere of the Store Kro Group.
Central issue of the 26th conference of the society is undoubtedly the scientific programme and the fruitful exchange of thoughts. We therefore thrive to maintain the high standard and encourage vivid discussions of science! More detailed informations will follow next year.

I am very much looking forward to welcoming you in Dresden!

Sincerely yours,
Karl-Heinz Utz
